Port Charlotte
Port Charlotte is located in Charlotte County on the Central Gulf Coast of Florida. The population of Port Charlotte is roughly 50,000. Port Charlotte has received a number of high profile rankings including the 2nd best place to live in the US. The area is also well known for sailing, and golf.
If you are travelling to Port Charlotte for the first time there are a number of parks, and recreational areas. The beach is over 10 miles long and has soft white sand, and the most beautiful sunsets in the world. Even with the recent popularity of the city the crowds and hustle and bustle is relatively calm. Port Charlotte is also home to the Charlotte Sports Park, which, in 2009, will become the Spring Training home of the MLB Tampa Bay Rays. Popular attractions in the area include: Fish Cove Adventure Golf, and King Fisher Aerial Attractions.

Port Charlotte is well known for its world class sailing and sport fishing. Charlotte Harbor is the place to go for both. If fishing is your forte then you will want to travel here. Fresh water meets salt water and brings a large number of various fish species.
SAIL magazine stated that Port Charlotte was rated top 10 places in the world to Sail/Boat. Island hopping is rather easy from the Port which is approx 25 miles long. Tour around the calm coves, white sandy beaches. Or throw the anchor in and watch the sunset, or various birds that collect in the mangrove bays. Depending on the season you can also watch the dolphins and manatees at play.
If golfing is your thing the Riverwood GCC is the spot to go, this course is absolutely beautiful. Deep Creek is also a decent course. For all your shopping needs head over to The Port Charlotte Shopping Centre.
There are plenty of upscale dining spots here in Port Charlotte these include Nava-Gator Grill, Barnacle Bills and Mexicali’s Celebrity watch, star soccer player Wayne Rooney has a home here. MLB player Matt Laporta grew up in Port Charlotte and attended public school and high school and still has family in the area.
