Englewood

Englewood Florida is located in Charlotte and Sarasota FL counties. The population of Englewood is roughly 30,000. Englewood was originally known as Vineland, Florida. The area is a subtropical climate; average temperature in the winter months mid to low 60F, and in the summer months mid to high 80F. Englewood is known as “The Gem of the Suncoast”. Whether you’re moving here or just planning a vacation there is something for everyone.

Englewood Beach is one of four beaches associated with the Gulf Coast community. It is located on Manasota Key, a barrier island that stretches along the coastline of southwest Florida. There are plenty of picnic areas along the beach, with public rest/change rooms.

There are a number of restaurants and small boutique shops within close walking distance to the beach. Popular spots include The Fishery Restaurant, Pix Seafood, and Mama’s Italian Restaurant. For a pub like atmosphere check out The White Elephant, Turtle’s Bar and Grill, or Endzone Sports Bar.

If Golf is your thing there are a number of courses nearby. Some of the favorites are the Boca Royale, Stoneybrook GCC, and Oyster Creek. It is best to call ahead for tee times and green fees. Some courses offer deals to those vacationing in the area.

There are a number of charter boats available for rent. You can take basic sightseeing tours, or perhaps you are interested in a day of fishing. Captain Jack’s and Another Keeper Charters are most famous for both deep sea and inshore fishing adventures in Englewood.

Englewood Divers and Gulf Coast Dive Center are two local Scuba and Snorkeling shops. If you are interested in exploring the depths of the ocean, one of these shops can help you.

Englewood is 85 miles south of Tampa, and 50 miles north of Ft. Myers. The city is accessible by water via Boca Grande Pass, the Venice Outlet, or Stump Pass. If you are planning on arriving via Stump Pass it is important that you research the various depths, shoals etc, as this pass is quite small. There are a number of marinas for docking including Chadwick’s, Buchan’s Landing, and Englewood Boathouse.
