Destin

Destin is a city situated on the Emerald Coast of Florida. The Emerald Coast didn't get this special name in vain: the beaches in this area are renown for their beautiful emerald green colored waters and white sands. The city is also located on a peninsula, so it's surrounded by the beautiful emerald sea everywhere. The white sand is also an attraction, and it's so sparkling and silvery because it's actually made of quartz crystal, which is so fine that it's very soft and sugar-like. The best time to visit Destin is spring and fall. It might be still cold in your city, but in Destin it's always summertime!

These stunning beaches are perfect for those who just want to relax in the sun, or swim a little in the emerald waters. But Destin's beaches also attract hundreds of people annually because of their tranquil waters which allow excellent fishing experiences for everyone. If you like fishing you have to visit Destin, because it's a city with the reputation of a lucky place for fishing, in fact it is called "The World's Luckiest Fishing Village". Destin got its name from Captain Leonard Destin, who was a fishing master in the colonial times. Maybe the name carries with it the luck of the man himself, making this area so good for the anglers. Other sea related activities, such as scuba diving, deep sea fishing and snorkeling are very popular as well. The Gulf of Mexico is adored by surfers. However, Destin is not only a place for the sea lovers. The area surrounding the city is well preserved and beautiful, full of deep forests, and it's excellent for those who want to hike or go biking.

Some great places which must be seen are the Big Kahuna's Water & Adventure Park, a huge park which awaits the tourists with many adventures. The Gulfarium is an old and famous marine park, where visitors can see the wonderful and beautiful creatures that live in the sea. For those who like animals and they are not afraid of them, Gator Beach definitely offers something unique: people who decide to go there can look at free crocodiles, even feed them, and it's all for fee free. A few of the annually organized attractions are the Destin Seafood Festival and the Destin Fishing Rodeo. The Emerald Coast Science Center is a favorite of the kids, where they can experiment and discover the magic of science.
